Entertainment blogs in Kenya are sprouting like mushrooms. Can’t blame anybody. The entertainment industry is turning out to be a hot cake among internet publishers. With all the crazy things celebrities got on their sleeves, the break ups that never started, wild parties, nightlife- someone wants to get updated and someone else is gotta everybody.
So here we go. The sites that are driving Kenyans wiggle with all the entertainment news. Some have been doing this thing for as long as we can remember while others started the other day. They are all doing great job though.
If you love gossip then you love Ghafla- and of course vice versa. Founded by a Kenyan Campus runaway, Ghafla is Kenya’s version of PEREZ HILTON- and Kenyan Celebs hate them too. You can’t be like Perez Hilton and win any love from celebrities. Anyway, if you really want to know what Nairobi Nightlife was like the past weekend, who stripped or who fell in love the wrong way, Ghafla would be glad to exaggerate it for you. They have in the past clashed with their targets and Kenyans love to know who’s being exposed so they will always run to Ghafla for some dose.
Another thing, those guys don’t seem to hate gossiping- over 45 articles per day is what I mean.
They love gossip too. But not ill gossip. From what I gather, it is run by the business guru Chris Kirubi. This site is mostly focused on Fashion, entertainment, tech and business news. They also recently added a campus page known as the Capital Campus which mostly run campus news, survival, educational- all the blah blah blah to do with campus stuff.
I would have said Mpasho is more like Ghafla. May be. May be not. They just published all the stuff you don’t want reading but everybody is reading. It is the most horny site I have come across. If you are looking for the latest Vera Sidika photos or simply want to know which chick got the most boobicious ( someone tell me what that even means) boobs in Kenya, Mpasho is there for you. Yes they will promise you just celebrity and lifestyle news but it is much more than that. This site is run by the Star.
Standard Group Media didn’t want Entertainment news polluted by the rest of the news, or the other way round, so they started SDE entertainment to take care of that. They too love gossip and are moving more quickly towards Mpasho than Ghafla- too bad. But not that bad.
They don’t make honey or anything like that but the site is surely a buzz with news on the latest events and parties in town. If you are looking for the sluttiest nightlife spots to spend good money on over the weekend, Kenyan Buzz will be glad to sort you out. They don’t end at parties and events though, they seem to know all the good movies that are fresh from studios. And oh, they have been doing this thing for a while now so they have probably mastered their way around what they do.
Another gossip site. They dish the most juicy entertainment news around Nairobi. They are gossipy as Ghafla and Mpasho but they also try to dilute their gossip with some tech articles and they are just good at it. They also have a site named CarArea where they run a classified listing for cars. They must love cars just as much as gossip. A peculiar combination. Anyway they are doing a gre
at work trying to expose the dark site of Nairobi. And Kenyans love them for that.
Niaje had been shut down sometime after it ran out of finance. Gladly enough it is on its feet again and competing with such giants as Ghafla and Mpasho. It was started by one David Mugo and it is one of the oldest site that have running entertainment news in Kenya.
